Our Mission Statement:
To provide visual artists on Maui with resources, exposure, and sales opportunities to support their artistic endeavors and livelihoods.
The need for support of the Maui visual arts community is more important now than ever since the wildfire tragedy of 2023. Many artists lost their homes, their life’s work, galleries, income, supplies, studios, and more.
Maui Art Alliance, Inc. was founded in December of 2023 by Carolyn Quan, a former Lahaina/Maui resident and fine artist, with the goal of supporting visual artists on Maui with resources, exposure, and selling opportunities. Maui Art Alliance, Inc. promotes connections between visual artists on Maui with art lovers and art collectors from around the world.
Our nonprofit organization was also formed to sustain the annual Maui Open Studios events which had been independently produced by our Founder, Carolyn Quan, for 13 years prior to its formation. Touched by the fire’s devastating impact on the region, our desire was to create a nonprofit to help Maui artists, not just in the months of the aftermath of the fire, but in perpetuity.
With the addition of the Maui Art Alliance online artist directory, which will be the largest directory of Maui artists in existence, our programs and events will help Maui artists gain momentum to recover from the challenges they have faced since the fires.
