Known as “The Volcano Knitter”, Lisa Louie is a long time hand knitter who makes display art and unique wearables. “After a couple of decades in Hawaii, I didn’t want to stop knitting, but had to start making art.” She completed a life size hand knit portrait of her husband in a bowling alley. “Waiting His Turn” is life-sized, took more than a year, and a “lot of bad words’ ‘to complete. Lisa’s knitted art has been in juried art shows, displayed in museums, and is available for purchase. Her unique work often features Hawaii landscapes or societal issues.
